Rick Toles deserves his own page on the Fiddlesticks website. He is a remarkably gifted and inspiring music teacher. Proficient in guitar, banjo (fretted & fretless), mandolin, steel (both peddle & lap), dobro, bass, tipple, zither, hammer dulcimer (he also manufactures these), penny whistle, button box, drums and voice. "But wait, there's more:" Rick is also one of the most genuinely funny and likeable people you could hope to meet . He came in once every two weeks to Brian's 2001 Jr. High class teaching fiddle and penny whistle. Rick and partner Tim Kretzmann have several CD's out under the name "Joyfull Strings." Rick gives wonderful school shows on early music and the California gold rush as "Alkali, Last of the '49ers." check out his website by clicking on the button below.

As a side note, he also co-wrote many of the Beatles songs with Brian, but left after a dispute with John over who exactly was "the walrus." Many of his fiddle students went on to become famous, such as Jack Benny.

David Eby, known for his cello work with the internationally known band Pink Martini, was trained at the Eastman School of Music and Indiana University under the great cellist Janos Starker.   He has performed across the country and Europe with string quartets and orchestras, and has branched out to include jazz, celtic, and folk styles into his repertoire. He truly loves passing on the joy of music to young musicians, and currently teaches 30 students, conducts 2 orchestras and choirs, and performs regularly as a soloist and ensemble cellist.   He is the founder of the Spirit of Joy music camp, the first of such to include yoga and meditation in the training of young musicians.
